What do you get if you spend £500 million on a football team? It seems like the answer is the Premier League title. Manchester City's 2-0 victory at St. Jame- I mean The Sports Direct Arena against Newcastle United saw the club on the brink of lifting their first championship since 1968.
Despite Manchester United's 2-0 defeat of Swansea, Manchester City still hold an +8 goal difference over their city rivals and only have to defeat QPR to end the campaign lifting the silver and golden trophy. And with Manchester City possessing the best home form in the league and QPR the worst away record it already seems like a foregone conclusion.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made one last attempt to inspire QPR manager Mark Hughes and his players by stating that they are still in a relegation dog fight, with the club needing a victory to secure their Premier League status, as well as reminding Hughes of how he was unethically sacked by City back in 2009.
However it seems like it's too late and now City are on the brink of becoming the new dominant force in English football.
