There had been rumors circulating for quite some time that the next X-Men film to hit the big screen would be based on the popular comic spin-off "The New Mutants," but there hadn't been any sort of actual confirmation until now. It looks like The New Mutants will indeed be the next iteration of the team to join their better known brethren at the multiplex.
The film, set to be directed by The Fault in Our Stars helmer Josh Boone, has announced its first two stars and they're both fairly well known in geeky circles. Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams will be taking on the role of Wolfsbane and The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy will be suiting up as Magik. Non-comic book fans basically should know that Wolfsbane is a girl whose mutant power is turning into a wolf, and Magik is a sorceress and sister to X-Man Colossus. Based on the film's director and young cast, you should expect lots of teen angst, not unlike the stuff with the younger mutants in X-Men: Apocalypse.
While details are scant at best for the moment, we're glad that the franchise is continuing to expand and with these two sexy ladies leading the team, you can guarantee we'll be there when the film opens in April, 2018.
