Lewis Hamilton has most things he has ever craved. Nicole Sherzinger's on his arm, the 2008 Formula One World Championship is in his hands and a shed load of money is in his wallet. But what he doesn't have at the moment though is a competitive car and it's destroying his relationship with his McLaren team.
Hamilton has been with them since he was 13 years old and they brought him into the Grand Prix fraternity, but over the last few years he has watched Sebastian Vettel and his Red Bull cohorts dominate the Formula One championship.
2012 seemed to start promisingly for Hamilton, with McLaren having a vastly superior car to both Red Bull and Ferrari but over the last few races he has watched these two driving behemoths overtake him and now he sits 37 points behind Alonso, who's now at the top of the standings.
So where does this leave Lewis? Well, he has finally revealed that he'll decide his future once he recognises how quick his McLaren car will be.
In an interview with Russia's R-Sport agency Hamilton said that 'There are a lot of things to take into account. These people have supported me, they got me into F1. But I want to win. I'm not that young any more so I want to make sure that whatever I do I make the right decision so I maximise my career.'
Speaking about his turbulent season so far he noted that 'I've been ready all year to win. We should have won a lot more races than we have, but there's many more races to go. We still have a lot more chance to get some wins, and I think it's possible.'
Regarding his long-term future Lewis added that 'We haven't sat down and discussed anything yet but I'm sure over the summer break it would be nice to get something in place. That would be a time when we can be more relaxed and make the most sensible decision for the future.'
It seems like Hamilton is keeping all of his cards close to his chest. Good strategy. All should be revealed over the next few weeks.
