While the world patiently waits for the next slate of MCU movies—kicking off with March's Captain Marvel—Marvel Studios' head honcho Kevin Feige is already looking to what comes next. Namely, he's going to soon begin work on incorporating all of the characters Marvel is reacquiring from Fox like the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Like, really soon.
In a new interview with Variety, Feige confirms that work will begin on bringing those characters into the MCU in the first half of 2019...
“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year,” Feige says. “The notion of the characters coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to. But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”
So anyone predicting those characters will show up in Avengers: Endgame can probably relax with those theories. Now, is it likely that the outcome of Endgame—namely an alternate universe or mirror universe or something to that effect—will help bring these previously absent characters into the fold, but it all remains up in the air until Marvel gets their act together.
