Juventus wrapped up their 28th Serie A championship earlier this week, their first Italian title for nine years. Antonio Conte's men beat Cagliari 2-0 as their closest challengers AC Milan lost 4-2 to their cross city rivals Inter at the San Siro stadium.

This string of results meant that the Turin-based team were now four points clear with only one game left.

Mirko Vucinic's strike and an own goal from Michele Canini were enough for Juventus to win their encounters whilst the Milan derby will go down as one of the great modern games of soccer. 2-1 down early in the second half, Inter mounted a stupendous comeback which saw Diego Milito score a hat-trick, Maicon score a 30 yard stunner and also included 3 penaltys, one of which was missed.

Juventus's haul of 28 Serie A titles is now ten clear of AC Milan and Inter Milan with Genoa, Torino, Bologna and Pro Vercelli a further 9 championships behind.

This success is the club's first since the great match fixing scandal of 2006 which saw Juventus have their 2005 and 2006 efforts taken away from them and also comes when their current coach Antonio Conte is entwined within a fresh case of this affair. Although it involves his previous club Sienna and Conte, it seems, is only guilty by association.

It's great to see the black and white stripes of Juventus back where they belong at the top of the Italian table and it will be sensational to see them fighting against the elite of European giants in next season's Champions League once again.

PS. Here's an interesting fact for you. With AC Milan not lifting this year's Scudetto, it is the first time in 8 season's that their Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has failed to win the league championship in the country he has played in.
