Time Magazine can now add Britney Spears name on the list of 100 Most Influential People of 2018. She inspired Jim Parsons’ to become an actor. Yes, legendary actor Jim Parsons who you probably wouldn’t know exists if it wasn’t for The Big Bang Theory being shoved down everyone’s throats. I’m willing to bet every American has seen at least one episode of that show whether they own a television or not. Parsons was positioned to be the new Neil Patrick Harris. He fit the mold of clean shaven, non-threatening masculinity that you would never know was gay unless you inquired. But the second coming of NPH owes his career to the Spears.
Jim speaking to Fallon:
"I have the oddest connection to Britney -- not that she would know it -- but when I was auditioning for grad schools back in the late 90s, I guess it was, 'Baby One More Time' came out," Parsons began.
"I was getting ready and trying to get focused for these auditions for these schools and something about that song, and especially that video, really worked for me," he said. "Obviously not in a sexual way -- I’m a good gay! But there was something inspirational."
Britney being responsible for The Big Bang Theory’s success is just another reason why I wish on stars at night that she falls from the stage at Caesars Palace in Vegas. The show clearly doesn’t work without Sheldon. They’re on season 11 and added themselves to the long list of other zombified shows that won’t die. And instead of moving on to movies like most actors, Jim is doing a spinoff entitled Young Sheldon. I guess the world owes Britney some gratitude. Without her the quality of background noise TV programming would be less witty and missing punchlines that have bazinga at the end.
