Say goodbye to your socks, cause they're about to get knocked right off your god**mn feet. Turns out Jesse Eisenberg is going to play Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman picture.
Also, Jeremy Irons was cast as Alfred, and blah blah blah. But back to this Eisenberg thing. Wow, right? I mean, we definitely did not see that coming. Casting rumors for this particular picture have been especially intense. We knew Gal Gadot was up for the role of Wonder Woman ages ago, for example. But this one? Totally out of the blue.
This casting isn't likely to be met with the same level of outrage as, say, the casting of Ben Affleck at the Caped Crusader. However, you can be sure there are going to be folks who don't like it. Most recently people had been salivating the idea of Bryan Cranston playing Luthor, which I will admit sounded like a fantastic idea given the guy's turn in Breaking Bad. Unlike Affleck, though, no one can question whether Eisenberg possesses the acting skillz needed for such an iconic part. He may be a bit, um, nerdier than we're used to, but I for one am intrigued by this news and optimistic that the guy who played the rich evil supervillain in The Social Network will do well as the rich evil supervillain in Batman vs. Superman.
But what do you think, internet? Are you pro- or anti- Eisenberg?
