Jayson Werth has Vowed Revenge on Philadelphia Because of Their Fans

Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth, formerly of the Philadelphia Phillies (until Washington offered way more money than they should have), is on a personal mission to make sure the Phillies never win another championship.

Werth broke his wrist on a sliding catch over the weekend during a game back in Philly at home in Washington, and said he could hear the taunts from the Philly fans in attendance, saying he deserved to get hurt. And that's all he needed to hear.

Werth emailed the Washington Post about what he heard, and what he plans on doing about it.

After walking off the field feeling nauseous knowing my wrist was broke and hearing Philly fans yelling ‘You deserve it,' and, ‘That's what you get,' I am motivated to get back quickly and see to it personally those people never walk down Broad Street in celebration again.

Easy, fella. Yes, the Nats are surprisingly leading the National League East right now at 19-10, and the Phillies are in last at 14-16. But Werth's injury is just the latest in a string of them for the team. It's kind of a silver lining thing I guess, since injuries are what led to Bryce Harper getting called up from the minors, but the way this is going after 39 games, the Nats will be lucky to have a full roster by the All Star Break.

Nobody wants to get taunted when they're in excruciating pain, and Werth did what anyone would do in his situation a couple years ago. He was a free agent and got offered a boat load of money by Washington, what was he supposed to do? Werth is supposed to be out around six weeks, and if the sound of those fans gets him back on the field faster, more power to him.
