Japanese Samurai Remake of Clint Eastwood’s ‘Unforgiven’? Yes, Please. (VIDEO)

Remakes are all the rage in Hollywood these days, and for the most part they're a result of the industry's greed and lack of creativity, as well as our own tendency to mindlessly gobble up whatever they put in the local cineplex. If they started work tomorrow on a remake of Man of Steel, we'd all whine and complain, but then we'd fork over $15 to see it in glorious IMAX 3D when it comes out.

However, not all remakes are pointless. Sometimes they are awesome—like when somebody takes one of the best Hollywood westerns of all-time and transforms it into an epic samurai film set in post-feudal Japan.

That's the treatment being given the Clint Eastwood film Unforgiven by director Lee Sang-il. Ken Wantanabe of Inception fame plays the William Munny role originally played by Eastwood—you know, the former expert murderer who went soft after meeting his wife, but returned to his murderous ways following her death.

From what I can tell, the film is a violent, blood-soaked western just like the original. Only with samurai swords. And as you probably know, everything is better with samurai swords.
