Hey kids, did you like Mad Max: Fury Road? Of course you did. Wanna watch it again, only this time Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Immortan Joe are replaced by James Franco, Milla Jovovich, and Snoop Dogg? Wait, where are you going? Come back!

Future World is a new film that, were it made by notorious knock-off house The Asylum, would be titled Maniac Mack: Outrage Avenue! Sadly it isn't, and even more sadly, it's co-directed by the aforementioned James Franco, who hasn't officially been charged with anything despite many, many stories about his behavior over the years. This makes him okay to work with for now, I guess.

Holy hannah does this thing look terrible. I mean, I know that Snoop Dogg's gonna basically have a glorified cameo, which leaves us with Franco, Milla Jovovich, and a bunch of no-names. It's astonishing how much it's cribbing from Fury Road as well... and how much better that film looks by comparison.

Honestly, sometimes you don't know how truly amazing a film is until the knock-offs start showing up. One look at this flick's desert footage will make you pine for Fury Road. This looks like straight trash, but I'll probably see it because I'm terrible.

Future World hits theaters, I shit you not, on May 25, the same day as Solo: A Star Wars Story. Great counter-programming move there Lionsgate. Surely some of the folks who are sold out of Solo will drift into one of the theaters showing Future World, right?
