The most out of place guy in the crew from the original Predator is Shane Black's Hawkins, but rumor has it he was there to help punch up the script, having just made a name for himself as a writer thanks to his script for Lethal Weapon. Little did any of us know that thirty years later, Black's connection to the franchise would land him the job of rebooting it for the umpteenth time.
Now we finally have some idea of what the film is going to entail thanks to this debut teaser trailer for the September release, and the following synopsis courtesy of ComicBookMovie...
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
With a cast including Sterling K. Brown, Keegan Michael Key, Olivia Munn, and Boyd Holbrook, plus the involvement of Black, this feels like it could be the first reboot since Star Trek to actually have some sort of seismic impact. Fingers crossed anyway. The Predator opens on September 14.
