GAMING

You remember Aliens, right? Of course you do. It was all badass space marines, explosions, Game Over, Man! Game Over!, acid blood, bellowing, xenomorphs coming outta the goddamn walls, all of that good stuff. It was awesome, is basically what I’m getting at with this.
I’m sure you also remember the first rule of licensed video games: They’re ass. Superman 64 is still the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life, and I once walked in on my ma and pa getting it on in a way I didn’t even know was possible. There isn’t enough brain-bleach in the world, my friends.
Anywho, yes. The problem is usually living up to the source material. Before release, Aliens: Colonial Marines was spouting all this BS about being an authentic, pulse-pounding, like-you’re-one-of-the-badasses-in-the-movie dramatic shooter. This, it was not. But it could have been, and by the power of modding, it effing well will be.
ACM Overhaul is a mod made by Templar GFX, seeking to right a few of the game’s more craptacular wrongs. As Destructoid reports, it ‘…addresses the game’s dreadful enemy AI to make the Xenomorphs faster and more aggressive, as well as tweaking the in-game world to make it more atmospheric and realistic. The modder has even scaled down enemy health to compensate for their boosted speed and aggression. Other tweaks include indefinite corpses and blood, improved lighting and shade, and improved weaponry.’
As the creator himself states, Overhaul allows you to ‘experience the game as it should have been when it came out,’ which sure would be nice. Take a look at it in action below, then hit the link to check it out for yourself.
