Facebook is one of the world's most popular social networking sites. It boasts of close to a billion active users, and you can expect a couple hundred million to be online in any given moment.

There's no denying that the social network has changed how people deal and communicated with each other. Instead of emails, there are Facebook messages, and taking the place of phone conversations is Facebook chat.

If you've been looking for something to keep things a bit more personal on Facebook, then you'll probably be interested in uWhisp. It's an app developed by four graduates from Spain's Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya School of Informatics. It's basically a downloaded plug-in that lets users leave voice messages on anyone's Facebook wall or Twitter account.

Once installed, uWhisp shows up as widget in their browser of choice. Messages can be recorded by hitting the record button on uWhisp, which will then save the recording on the local disk drive. The user can then play it back to listen to the message before sending it along to the recipient.

It's pretty nifty and seems like a good idea. In fact, a lot of people agree with me because uWhisp has been downloaded over 6,000 times in the first three weeks of its released. And already, 10,000 whisps have been sent.
