If you have an iPad then you remember when your device was the coolest one on the market. If you have an iPad2 then you are currently living in that bubble of pristine happiness. For now, you know that you have the bragging rights. Well, bad news is coming for you. Apple is getting ready to announce the iPad 3 on March 7th. How do we know that, they have been giving out press invitations to the launch event.
While, for the time being, this is not officially an iPad 3 event there are two events that have the world convinced that it is the new iPad release. The first thing is the wording on the invitation. Apple is telling journalists that, "We have something you really have to see. And touch." This is a serious iPad hint. Add to that the fact that the invitation sports a photo of a unique iPad and its pretty much a lock. For the skeptics however we will look at the second reason. That is the date, March 7th. For those of you who are not obsessed Apple fanboys, the 7th of March has become a kind of iPad milestone. Both of the previous versions had media launches on, you guessed it, March 7th.
So what do we know about the new iPad? Well if the photo is any indication there will be no physical home button on the new model. Other specs are all speculation at this point, but a higher screen resolution is almost a guarantee. Some sources close to the company have also been hinting at the possibility of a bigger processor, perhaps Apples first quad-core iPad?
The official specs, the release date for consumers and pricing will be available after the event. The event is being held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10 am. Sorry boys, its not open to the public. Journalists only.
