Apps are huge. I think that much is pretty obvious. One reason why smartphones are so popular is that their uses and functions are virtually endless thanks to these apps. From life organizers and to-do lists to games, social media, and entertainment--just do a quick search in the app store for your OS, and you'll most likely find it there.
Most apps are available for free, but some developers release premium versions of the apps too, which they sell on the app stores. If you've got an iOS or Android device, then you probably already have a hundred and one apps installed on your device for everything and anything you may need.
That said, the app industry is pretty much booming right now. Because while most apps and games cost 99 cents a pop, these small amounts will add up to a lot especially if the app goes viral. Some free versions also includes ads, so they rake in some sizable ad revenue as well even if they're offering the app free of charge.
