Indianapolis Colts Looking to Make a Big Move – Maybe

After winning for the last decade or so, it must be tough for Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay to accept the idea that his team is not going to be very good this year. They will likely not be as bad as everyone is expecting, but the odds are certainly not in favor of the Colts.

Apparently Jim Irsay does not want to wait too long before seeing his team back on top. Rumor has it that the Colts are in the market for an impact veteran to add to the roster--or at least that's what I think he was saying in a recent series of tweets.

Jim Irsay is one of the most entertaining people to follow on Twitter. With his constant use of rock lyrics in his tweets it can be hard to know if he is quoting a song or trying to convey a message sometimes. His tweets have become infamous for their cryptic nature; the NSA's best would have a hard time cracking his code.

So on Thursday when he started talking about trade winds blowing it was hard to figure out if he was channeling Jimmy Buffett or something having to do with the Colts. Judge for yourself:

This one came first:

TRADE WINDS BLOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hours later Irsay seemed to realize he might have stirred something up, but wasn't going to back down yet:

SERIOUS TRADE WINDS Swirling! We're talking given up high pick for SERIOUS Vet/Starter!.. these deals often crumble n don't reach completion

Yea! Serious talks that probably won't work! Sounds like a typical confusing Irsay text. When he followed that one up with this one it seemed like the trade possibilities were serious after all:

Colts Fans..Your GM Mr Grigson isn't afraid to roll the dice n aggressively improve YOUR Indianapolis Colts..n my check book stands ready!

But then he follows that up with this one:

9 times out of 10 these deals fizzle out like a faulty Roman Candle;any other info at this time is proprietary, must move behind the curtain!

So it sounds like he is telling fans not to expect anything, and that he's going to stop talking about it now. Well shoot Jim! You had to go and get our hopes up!

If the Colts were to go after any position it has to be wide receiver. With Austin Collie's concussion history--his most recent one coming last Sunday--you have to wonder if the young wide receiver might find his budding career cut short. One concussion is bad; multiple is nothing to take lightly.

Should he not play or even take a while to return, the Colts would be in dire need of a wide receiver. While it may not be encouraging to come to a team expected to do as bad as the Colts, Irsay has been known to pay his offensive stars well in the past. Should the Colts be able to bring in another marquee receiver to line up on the other side of Reggie Wayne the Colts passing game could be dangerous.

Then again, there was not a single mention of a rock lyric anywhere in the aforementioned tweets. Are we sure that Irsay wasn't hacked and someone's teasing us?
