It's understandable that I'll Have Another wasn't favored at the Kentucky Derby; he was not too well known or regarded at the time. At the Preakness he got some respect for having won the Derby, but was still not the favorite.

Now with two big wins under his belt and a chance to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed back in 1978, I'll Have Another has finally been named the favorite!

With these odds you will not win much, but with a chance for history to be made Saturday if you are watching the race you are going to be hoping for one of two things:

  1. I'll Have Another wins and becomes the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years, or
  2. The $2 you put down on the horse with the longest odds turns into a tidy sum of cash (meaning no Triple Crown and one heck of an upset)

Come Saturday, June 9, at 5 PM ET on NBC, something interesting will happen; that much you can bank on. Whether it's a Triple Crown winner or not remains to be seen. If you happen to be a betting man, here are the horses in order of position along with their odds.

  • Street Life, 12-1; Unstoppable U, 30-1; Union Rags, 6-1; Atigun, 30-1; Dullahan, 5-1; Ravelo's Boy, 50-1; Five Sixteen, 50-1; Guyana Star Dweej, 50-1; Paynter, 8-1; Optimizer, 20-1; I'll Have Another, 4-5; My Adonis, 20-1

Okay so if you want to turn a little into a lot it looks like you have some choices, either Ravelo's Boy, Five Sixteen, or Guyana Star Dweej.
