Ready for another round of scares? It seems like we've got a lot of horror and supernatural flicks to look forward to in the coming months, aside from Sinister and V/H/S. This is pretty understandable and to be expected, given the lack of movies from this genre as of late.
The newest flick to join the horror crew is The Awakening, starring Rebecca Hall opposite Dominic West. We'll go into the major storyline the movie follows after the jump, but before that, check out the haunting new trailer from the movie in the player above to get a feel on what it's all about. Go on; we dare you.
The Awakening is set in the year 1921 in London, where Hall plays a writer named Florence Cathcart who goes about writing off supernatural claims as nothing but hoaxes. When her fiance passes away, Cathcart is approached by Robert Mallory (West) to investigate the recent death of a student at the all-boys boarding school where he teaches. When the students report to having seen his ghost, Cathcart goes to investigate--and that's where all the supernatural action begins.
The Awakening stars Imelda Staunton, Lucy Cohu, John Shrapnel, Diana Kent, Richard Durden, Alfie Field, Tilly Vosburgh alongside Hall and West, and hits theaters on August 17th.
