Today is Tooth Fairy Day, which is the one day a year in which we celebrate the imaginary dental pixie. Most of us grew up sticking our fallen milk teeth under our pillows in expectation of cold hard cash. Some people got a quarter and while others received twenty dollars, depending on your parent's economic status and level of cheapness. The Tooth Fairy is kind of a weird idea if you think about it. Once a tooth falls out, in my opinion at least, it becomes a gross bit of body leavings. Would you keep nail clippings or renegade pubes? If you would you are weird. Why would this fairy chick want to buy your teeth? What does she do with them? Does she just throw them away or does she do something weird with them? In this special Tooth Fairy Day gallery we examine the history of this gross mythological figure and other teeth stealing traditions from around the world.
