Halle Berry is setting the record straight about one of the most talked-about scenes in her career, the intense love scene with Billy Bob Thornton in the 2001 film Monster’s Ball. Despite longstanding rumors, Berry recently clarified that there was no actual sex involved in the filming of the scene.
In a new interview, Berry addressed the speculation, firmly denying that anything beyond acting happened between her and Thornton during the shoot.
“It was a performance—there was no real sex involved, we were portraying something raw and intimate, but it was all for the sake of the story. Nothing more.”
Reflecting on the film’s broader impact, Berry noted how Monster’s Ball broke new ground in its exploration of themes like grief, love, and redemption. She credits the movie for pushing boundaries and sparking necessary conversations about race and sexuality in Hollywood.
