Warning: The audio is pretty profane.
Gregg Williams, the former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator, told his team the night before a playoff game with the San Francisco 49ers to 'kill the f'ing head, and the body will die.'
Williams has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for running a bounty program that paid cash to players for taking opposing players out of games with vicious hits. Because you know, that never happens unless guys making millions of dollars a year are promised an extra few thousand.
The audio posted here is of Williams hyping up his defense before a playoff game this year. There is plenty of NSFW language in there, so be careful.
Saints head coach Sean Payton, assistant coach Joe Vitt and general manager Mickey Loomis are all appealing their own suspensions today at the NFL offices in New York.
It's not clear whether this audio of Williams is part of the evidence the league had during their investigation, or if this is new to everyone. What is clear is that a documentary crew was working on a story about a former Saints player, and it's more than likely Williams knew he was being recorded.
If anything, it's an inside look at how intense things get before these guys go out and play one of the most violent sports on the planet. It shouldn't be too surprising that things like this are said, though.
