Marvel's beginning to crank up the hype machine again in anticipation of next month's release of Black Panther with this new featurette showcasing the character's history. Sure enough Stan Lee's in there trying to take credit for as much as humanly possible now that just about everyone who could bust his ass mid-lie is now dead. God bless Stan Lee, I hope they filmed sixty cameos with him just so there never has to be an MCU movie without him.
Being a big fan of director Ryan Coogler's previous films Fruitvale Station and Creed, I'm personally looking forward to another director with a distinct voice and style being welcomed into the MCU. James Gunn, Taika Waititi, and even The Russo Brothers, have managed to keep their own individual styles intact while working within the confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's a damn shame we'll never see what Edgar Wright's Ant-Man would've looked like.
What do you think? Are you excited for Black Panther? The character's been handled pretty well thus far, so if it's more of that, I won't have any complaints. Well, maybe Andy Serkis as another unhinged villain, but as hammy as he gets, he's always a lot of fun to watch. Especially when he's not in a mo-cap suit. Black Panther hits theaters on February 16.
