CELEBRITIES
Michael Garcia - September 22, 2012
Going into last night's game in Carolina, there was worry on the part of the New York Giants and their fans that three key players being out would make it tough to pull out a win. Those worries were quickly extinguished as Andre Brown ran all over the Panthers, Ramses Barden torched the secondary and Eli Manning had all the protection he needed. The Giants crushed the Panthers and the defense forced Cam Newton into his worst game of the season.
Filling in for Ahmad Bradshaw, Brown had 77 yards in the first quarter on his way to a career high 113 with two TDs. Barden stepped up with Hakeem Nicks out and had nine catches for 138 yards. Manning was 27 of 35 for 288 with a TD pass to Martellus Bennett.
Newton came into the game completing 70% of his passes, but was off all night thanks to a stifling Giants defensive line that harried him into a 16 of 30 night with three picks. Newton did have a rushing touchdown, but only managed six yards on the night. He also did his Superman celebration after the TD, despite the score being 23-0 when he plunged into the end zone.
Probably not the time for that.
