Back in September, we told you that Fox was working on a Batman-free Batman TV show called Gotham about the early career of Commissioner Gordon. However, at that stage it was only "in development." And while it was extremely unlikely that Fox pass on the show given the high-profile subject matter, technically they still had to make the pilot and win over the network fat cats.
Well, they made the pilot, and they won over the fat cats. So late yesterday Fox announced they had ordered 13 episodes to debut sometime during the 2013/14 season and released the first trailer.
The show will star Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) as young Jim Gordon, with Donal Logue (that guy from that thing) as Detective Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith (Will Smith's wife) as gangster Fish Mooney, Robin Taylor (???) as future Penguin Oswald Copperpot, Camren (Sic) Bicondova (?????) as future Catwoman Selena Kyle, and David Mazouz (you don't know him) as a young Bruce Wayne.
Obviously, it's way to early to tell if the show will be any good, but so far it doesn't look like it will suck.
Then again, I thought Almost Human was going to be a big hit, and look what happened to that.
