The The Dark Knight Trilogy was OK, I guess. But I wish it would have focused less on Batman and more on Commissioner Gordon during his early days as a cop. If you agree with me, today is your lucky day.
Fox is working on a weekly series called Gotham which will chronicle the adventures of young James Gordon. And the best part is there won't be any pesky bat-related superheroes to get in the way. Thank god!
Chronologically speaking, it won't make sense for Batman to appear in a prequel series. But that doesn't mean some of Gotham's well-known supervillains won't be stopping by. And perhaps a young Bruce Wayne may cross paths with Detective Gordon. Basically, Gotham has everything you'd want in a Batman show... except for Batman. Hey, it worked for The Hogan Family.
Did Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have anything to do with DC's decision to bring the Batman universe back to the small screen? Nah, I'm sure the fact that this story broke on the day Marvel's new show premiered was just a happy coincidence. Regardless, Bruno Heller (Rome, The Mentalist) is helming the series, which doesn't hurt. You know what else wouldn't hurt? A character named Batman. Look into it, Bruno.
