The Dark Knight Rises has now been released, fawned over and loved. So, now we need to find a new movie to appreciate and get ridiculously excited over.
And it seems like Zack Snyder's reincarnation of Clark Kent and Superman fits the bill.
Henry Cavill is set to star as the burgeoning journalist in the 300 directors moody take on the superhero, with the first teaser trailer for the Man of Steel being shown to us all before The Dark Knight Rises.
But there are many other reasons for cinephiles to be jubilant over the latest Superman escapade. Here are several reasons to get excited over the Man of Steel. Don't worry 14th June 2013 isn't that far away.
Superman - Clark Kent doesn't need a huge acting name attached to it, Superman is a big enough draw on his own. But Henry Cavill, star of Stardust and The Tudors, seems to have the perfect acting chops to fit the latest instalment to Superman's adventures.
Lois/Zod/Jor-El/Perry/Jon & Martha Kent - It seems like Snyder and his elite producing partners have decided to fill the remaining supporting roles with extremely talented thespians too. Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishbourne, Kevin Costner and Diane Liane have been cast in these integral parts and in doing so have immediately elevated the movies quality. Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando's names are now intrinsically linked to the saga because of their performances and this could easily happen again to any of these stars.
Man of Steel's Producers - I'm pretty sure that we've seen the titles, written by David S. Goyer from a story by Christopher Nolan and Goyer before. Oh yeah, it was on Batman Begins and that movie was totally awesome. And of course, Nolan, Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing the film too which means that it will wreak of The Dark Knight. And no one can be upset about that.
Zack Snyder - Having proven himself as a director with a unique vision on Watchmen, 300, Dawn of the Dead and Sucker Punch, Snyder must be licking his lips in anticipation at working on a new Superman instalment. Before Batman Begins, Nolan himself had shown his artistic credibility with Following, Memento and Insomnia and his take on the Batman saga elevated his confidence to unprecedented levels that saw him create the tremendous Inception and The Prestige. Expect to see Snyder take the same path too over the next few years.
