I will admit, this is one of the better high concept comedy ideas that's come down the pike in a while. Based on a true story of a group of friends who have been playing the same game of tag for over 30 years, Tag assembles a pretty decent cast for some fun and games, with a heaping helping of dick jokes thrown in for good measure.
Though the trailer does a decent job of explaining the concept, but here's the official logline via ComingSoon...
One month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade—risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry “You’re It!” This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming…and he’s ready. Based on a true story, Tag shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.
Tag stars Ed Helms (Vacation, The Hangover I-III), Jake Johnson (New Girl, Jurassic World), Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy, Annabelle), Hannibal Buress (The Eric Andre Show, Broad City), Isla Fisher (Keeping Up with the Joneses, Now You See Me), Rashida Jones (Angie Tribeca, Parks and Recreation), Leslie Bibb (American Housewife, Zookeeper), Jon Hamm (Baby Driver, Mad Men), and Jeremy Renner (The Avengers films, The Hurt Locker, The Town).
Director Jeff Tomsic makes his feature directorial debut here from a script by Waiting... scribe Rob McKittrick. Tag hits theaters on June 15.
