Yesterday would have been Jack Kirby's 100th birthday, and in honor of that momentous occasion, Evangeline Lilly posted the first picture of her MCU character Hope Van Dyne suited up in her Wasp costume for the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp...
2015's Ant-Man was a surprisingly fun and nimble origin flick, hamstrung by all the usual origin story tropes and the fact that it could've been an Edgar Wright movie, but wasn't. Paul Rudd is one of the most charming guys alive, so watching him and cunnilingus-related cancer survivor Michael Douglas go back and forth was a lot of fun.
Hopefully the fact that we're seeing her first and that her character's name is now a part of the title means that Evangeline Lilly will get a bit more to do in this one. She was perfectly capable in the first film, but they didn't give her anything to do. She was a little like Winston Zeddmore, late to the Ghostbustin' game. She doesn't really show up for any of the fun. I'm sure Marvel is eager to correct that slight miscalculation this time around. Ant-Man and the Wasp will appear in Avengers: Infinity War next May before their film is released on July 6.
