The Walking Dead has firmly established itself as one of the most gruesome and bloodiest shows currently being broadcast on television. What with all the zombies and that.

But one of the darkest and most intense scenes of the series came during the last episode of the second season when a ominous and terrifying character revealed herself and saved the life of one of the other survivors whilst carrying a samurai sword and having two zombies chained to her.

This character was named Michonne and the first image of her has been revealed by Entertainment Weekly and she looks pretty badass. You can skip below to have a look at her as well as how she is portrayed in the comics. Enjoy.

The comic's creator and executive producer of the show also taked to Entertainment Weekly about the new series and the character revealing that "The essence of the character - her personality, her motives, everything that make Michonne - remains intact from the comics. But like a lot of things on the show, there will be little tweaks and differences here and there."

"We saw that her introduction is slightly different from how it was in the comic, and her interaction with Andrea is really going to be a really cool addition to the character that I think will get television viewers up to speed, and they'll get to know her a lot faster than cmic book readers did."

She promise to be one tough cookie from the looks of things.
