Just like all the collar bones, fenders, femurs and noses shattered in Fast & Furious 6, it had just a little more breaking to do: its pack-leading $120 million opening weekend helped make this the highest grossing Memorial Day of all time.
Not even last year's $207 million The Avengers opening could compete with the sheer force of so many great flicks. ComingSoon.net's Box Office Report estimated that this weekend took in around $317 million over all of the flicks in theaters. Hangover III, coming in well behind Vin Diesel and his cohorts just goes to show us that drunken debauchery can't compete with tank chases and that chick-fights will always trump decapitated giraffes. It's science.
This being Universal's biggest opening ever means that we're definitely going to see a Fast 7 in the near future. And probably an 8 and a 9. Maybe even a 10. And that's totally fine with us.
