Women have wanted to experience what it’s like to be a man for the longest time. Working overtime, all of the time, while family time takes a backseat. Eva Longoria finally caved and decided at age 42 she desired motherhood more than modeling mascara and modest IMBD credits. She had this epiphany after falling in love with someone else’s children. Then she married that person, José “Pepe” Antonio Bastón, and become the stepmom to three kids another woman didn’t want. But then she realized like every other stepparent that those kids are rented and need to be returned if she decided to divorce. She figured the only way to fix her insecurity about the issue was to get knocked up and that’s exactly what she did.

Eva Longoria loves children, but being pregnant hasn’t always been one of her priorities.

“She loves kids, but it’s not something she focused on,” a source tells PEOPLE of the 42-year-old actress, who’s currently expecting her first child — a son — with husband José “Pepe” Antonio Bastón.

“Meeting Pepe and becoming a stepmom made her more open to the idea,” the source continues. “She loves his kids and now they’re really excited to be expanding the family.”

42 is probably the safest age to have children when it comes to still maintaining somewhat of a career when you’re a female celebrity. It’s also the one of the worst ages to try to raise children if you’re ready to relax until it’s time to dearly depart. When half of your life is over your mindset is more focused on things like bingo and spending all day at Denny's than rearing children. But if Eva wants to deal with a bratty teenager at 55 that’s her choice. No one ever thinks about the kids. You’re almost guaranteed to get bullied when your mother is often confused for your grandmother.
