Apparently Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, is taking a page out of the Vin Diesel playbook. Back in July and then again in September, Diesel took to social media to drop hints that he was going to have a role in one of the approximately 45 Marvel projects currently in development. Now Mr. Rock is doing the same. Only instead of Marvel it's DC, and instead of Facebook it's Twitter.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about this:
Now, rumors that the Rock was in talks with Warner Bros about a role in one of their upcoming DC Comics flicks had been floating around the interwebz for a long time. But they were just rumors. Now, unless Johnson has lost his mind, it's confirmed.
Of course, there's obviously still plenty of room for speculation. The "bad assery" part certainly suggests he'll play a villain, but what villain and what movie is unknown.
Some folks are saying he could be Black Adam in the rumored Shazam movie. Others are speculating he could play the space alien mercenary anti-hero Lobo in a Justice League picture. But of course, the most ambitious speculation is swirling around Batman vs. Superman, with some even suggesting The Rock might make a good Lex Luthor.
Personally, I think Johnson is probably a stretch for Luthor...but I have to admit I am intrigued.
