The thing about big ol’ ballbusting console exclusives is, there aren’t freaking enough of them. These days, there are re-releases, re-hashes and HD remasters flying around all over. For every Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, there’ll be a couple thousand Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collections.
Which is, y’know, all well and good, if you want to get in on a franchise you might’ve missed out on previously. It happens. But for fans, it’s hard not to be pissed about the whole thing. Are you tempted into double-dipping? What about the resources that would be better spent elsewhere? Stop prettying up old Resident Evils and bring us number 7, already.
Still, it looks like this kind of thing is here to stay, so we might as well make the best of it. Which is why I’m here to tell you that Dead Island: Retro Revenge is giving me sweet, sweet tingles of nostalgic pleasure through my happy-parts.
This one’s thrown in with Dead Island Definitive Collection, Game Informer reports (if bought along with Riptide and not separately). It’s a 16-bit scrolling brawler, like a bloodier, swearier, undead-ier Streets of Rage or Golden Ax. If that’s not already enough for you, take a look at it in action:
