‘Creed II’ Behind the Scenes Featurette Pays for the Sins of Our Fathers (VIDEO)

When we learned that Creed II would focus on a boxing match between Adonis Creed (Michael B Jordan) and Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), a lot of us wondered why that was even a thing. What would drive the sons of Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago to want to fight, other than a simple "Your dad killed my dad" revenge plot.

This new featurette sheds a little more light on the backstory that brings this match into being. Essentially it seems that Ivan Drago's reputation and career were destroyed when he lost to Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV, so the Drago family has beef of their own with the Philadelphia boxing champions. It's not terribly original, but at least it gives the Dragos some reason to come to Philly and seek a new fight.

It's kind of amazing how they found a way to not only keep this franchise going, but also revitalize it after several disappointing sequels. It's no small feat in this day and age, and Creed was absolutely the best Rocky movie since the original. Let's hope that this one lives up to the hype and the legacy, which is kinda what the plot is all about, so get ready to get meta.
