Last week, during press interviews for their upcoming Dylan-esque flick Inside Llewyn Davis, Joel and Ethan Coen vehemently (as vehemently as those two guys get, which is not all that vehement) denied that there will be a Big Lebowski sequel, despite all the rumors. And that's cool, man, that's cool.
The brothers told The Toronto Star that despite all the excitement from John Turturo and Jeff Bridges, it's just not on the table. Ethan confirmed:
John Turturro, who wants it, talks to us incessantly about doing a sequel about his character Jesus. He even has the story worked out, which he's pitched to us a few times, but I can't really remember it. No, I don't see it in our future.
Joel added:
I don't think it's going to happen, I just don't like sequels.
Sure, if such a sequel were to be made, we'd definitely be first in line, but we also don't see the point of making it. Why ruin the legacy of a perfect movie? That's just, like, our opinion, man.
