Guess what guys? Christian Bale is not going to return to play Batman in any Justice League project. So just stop it.
Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound harsh. It's just that there are a lot of people out there who do not want to accept the truth. Even if you couldn't tell just from watching the Dark Knight trilogy and the new Zack Snyder Superman movie that these films do not exist in the same universe, you could certainly listen to the exact words of David Goyer, the guy who wrote both movies. He said, and I quote, "The 'Dark Knight' films do not exist in the same universe."
But what's that? You still aren't convinced that, somehow, they could figure out a way to get the Batman of Christopher Nolan to team up with the Man of Steel, even though he obviously retired at the end of The Dark Knight Rises? Well how about you just listen to Christian Bale himself. He's said it before, and this week he's said it again to Entertainment Weekly:
We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That's enough. Let's not get greedy. Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We're about to make the third.' We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.
Now, don't be sad, friends. Batman and Superman are still going to get together and share tips for getting their supersuits cleaned. Warner Brothers is most definitely going to make a Justice League movie, because to not do so would be to pass up free money.
It's just going to be a different Batman, with a different origin story, with a different actor.
