After this game I have come to one very important conclusion concerning the world of sports. I used to think that the toughest task in sports was being a rugby referee (basically one ref on a big 'ole field watching 30 guys--talk about tough). Referees in general have it tough; no one ever likes them.

Anyway...the toughest by far is a soccer goalie; especially those in Europe and South America (because folks there are real serious about their soccer). How did I come to this conclusion you ask? I have the 2012 UEFA Champions League Finals to thank for it.

For 88 minutes Bayern Munich's goalkeeper had played well, but with just two minutes left to play Didier Drogba got Chelsea on the board with a header. Yes, it was a tremendous play by Drogba, but I still would not want to be the goal keeper that failed to make the play.

The game ended in a tie which meant another 30 minutes of play. When that period finally ended with no one scoring the stage was set for the championship to be decided by penalty kicks.

This is why I think the goal keepers job is the worst in sports. Your team can play its behind off for two hours--120 minutes--and it all doesn't matter. The end result is decided by who can make the most kicks and nothing else!

With so much importance being put on stopping five kicks--it's stressing me out just thinking about it.

In the end, Bayern Munich could only stop one of Chelsea's kicks while Chelsea got four into the net. It was only fitting that it was Didier Drogba that made the final kick since it was his goal that sent the game to overtime in the first place.
