Disney is going to give us a Star Wars movie from now until the end of time. This year's installment is Star Wars: Rogue One, which is the first of the "Star Wars Stories" anthology series. These are different than every other Star Wars movie in that it is not a numbered episode and does not center on the adventures of the Skywalker clan. Instead, the film revolves around a group of spies led by Felicity Jones as they attempt to steal the plans for the first Death Star. The events, therefor, take place just before Episode IV when Luke and the gang enter the story. This is just a two minute teaser but it sure looks like it's going to be fun. Another interesting aspect of this movie is the fact that it doesn't seem to have a lot to do with Jedis and the Force. It deals instead with the seamier and seedier underworld from which people like Jabba the Hutt and Han Solo come from. This is an aspect of the story that has never been adequately explored.
We'll have to wait until December to know if this movie stacks up, but so far so good.
