Look, maybe they're going to pull something major off here, but my biggest gripe with everything about the idea of remaking Carrie is: A) They already did it with a faux sequel a couple years ago; B) The original still stands up; C) Chloe Moretzis cute no matter how much goat's blood you splatter on her. She's not exactly awkward and ghostly looking like Sissy Spacek was in the original, half of why that film was so creepy in the first place.
The short teaser released today harkens back to imagery you remember if you've ever read the book: The school on fire, Carrie covered in blood (with Chloe looking nearly identical to her Let Me In role that probably got her cast in the first place), people discussing how odd the girl was. I don't know. Maybe once my favorite fappable over-fifty-year-old Julianne Mooreshows up in the next trailer as Carrie's mom I might be a little more excited but as of now it just feels like another unnecessary remake done for all the wrong reasons.
Carrie opens April, 5th 2013.
