It's a big deal that Trent Reznor and David Goyer are contributing the story for Call of Duty: Black Ops II because of what they've done in music (Nine Inch Nails) and film (The Dark Knight Rises). The fact that musicians typically don't write video game stories and screenwriters normally don't collect accolades for movies until after they've hit theaters both get in the way of the name-dropping Activision is trying to do here.
If we're going to drop names, how about Tony Todd. The veteran film actor best known for playing the title role in the Candyman movies and Ben in the 1990 remake of "Night of the Living Dead" is voicing the general who narrates this new "Villain"trailer.
True story: A few years after Candyman came out, I'm getting a haircut in a barbershop that has an entire wall full of mirrors opposite the barber chairs. I'm looking at a shop's doorway through a reflection in the mirror, because I can't see the door directly, when Todd walks in looking just like Candyman. Anybody who's seen the movie knows that mirrors and Candyman are kind of like best friends. I hadn't even said his name three times and Candyman was coming to kill me in a barbershop. I was a junior in college at the time.
