It looks like everyone's favorite pair of time-travelling dimwits will be getting back in the phone booth as the long-gestating Bill and Ted sequel has attached a director. Dean Parisot, whose Galaxy Quest was also a successful mashup of sci-fi and comedy, will take control behind the camera for the third outing in the series. It's been over twenty years since we last saw Bill and Ted escape from hell and beyond in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, so while no plot details have emerged, the film will most likely revolve around time's most important rock stars hitting their fifties.
Generally speaking, sequels that have arrived long after their franchise sell-by dates have passed fall flat of its predecessors (I'm looking at you Live Free or Die Hard). But with the original writers and stars attached, there is is hope to be had that the third film may live up to the reputation of the others
It also makes us wonder if there's something to look forward to from these other sequels that have also been stuck in development for eons.
