The samurai were soooo much more badass than European knights. They were better swordsmen, better horsemen, better archers, and they knew friggin' karate. They also had better armor. The leather and bamboo wrapped iron rods held together by silk chords allowed the samurai greater flexibility and weight distribution than solid European plate armor.

This video shows a dude practicing the ancient art of Kobori ryū, samurai combat swimming. Yeah, you read right. The samurai could walk for hours neck deep in water in full armor and friggin' FIGHT while doing it. It's a fact that French knights in the battle of Agincourt drowned in puddles after being unable to get up when knocked down. Knights 0, Samurai 1,000,000.
