Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out next month in an attempt to make DC relevant in a world where Marvel is owning the box office, (Deadpool anyone?). The Zack Snyder film is highly anticipated with some people thinking it is going to be awesome and others, (like me), afraid that it is going to suck a lot. We will have to wait and see, but one thing is for sure: we're going to be seeing for a long time. The runtime of the movie is 2 hours and 31 minutes. That's even longer than Snyder's previous too long film Man of Steel. An hour an a half is a good length for a superhero movie. I'll even give you two hours if it's really compelling...but two and a half hours? What is this, friggin' Amadeus? Give me a break.
This makes me even more fearful about this movie. Can we, as a society, really take two and a half hours of Ben Affleck talking in a gravely voice and Jesse Eisenberg acting like a manic pixie dream girl version of Lex Luthor? That sounds worse than a swift kick in the balls. Look, Snyder is not a substantive director. He's great at flash and visuals but can that really be sustained for that long? Ugh, this is going to hurt.
