Avid comic book readers and X-Men fans know the work of Chris Claremont well, and if you want to see the closest live action adaptation to Claremont's sixteen year run on the Marvel mutants, you need to see FX's Legion. Yes, the X-Men films—Days of Future Past in particular—have been heavily indebted to Claremont's work on the characters, but Legion nails the tone in a way those PG-13 films never could.
The series stars Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast) as David Haller, an institutionalized man who has been misdiagnosed his entire life as schizophrenic when in actuality, he's an insanely powerful mutant. The first season dealt with him tapping into his powers alongside two other patients, Syd (Rachel Keller) and Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), to battle an ancient evil known as The Shadow King. Trust me, it's actually much cooler than it sounds.
The show was picked up for a second season, which is set to premiere on April 3. While this trailer doesn't give away much of what we're in store for, it's a great teaser for fans of the show eager to see what awaits. Honestly the cast alone makes this show worth checking out with the aforementioned trio being joined by the great Bill Irwin as well as Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement. If you're not already on board for this show, you've got a little less than six weeks to watch the first season before season two premieres.
