In May of 2013, as you probably recall, Netflix debuted a brand new season of cult favorite comedy Arrested Development, picking it up seven long years after it was dumped by Fox.

Since then, Amazon has stepped up its streaming game to compete with Netflix, and now they are all set to premier their very own comedy about a dysfunctional family starring Jeffrey Tambor as the patriarch.

The show is called Transparent, and all joking aside, it actually sounds quite different from Arrested Development . Instead of a lying, cheating, white collar criminal, Tambor's character in Transparent is a guy who reveals to his wife and grown children that he is, in fact, a woman in a man's body. (Get it? He's a trans parent!) The show also stars Judith Light,Gaby Hoffmann,Amy Landecker, andJay Duplass, and it's really more Shameless funny than Arrested Development funny.

If you're an Amazon Prime customer you can go watch the pilot right now. However, today Amazon announced that all ten episode of the first season will be available for streaming in the U.S. and the U.K. on Friday, September 26. So make a note of that wherever you keep notes about such things.
