Bob Iger Steps Down as Disney CEO

It was just reported (30 minutes ago) that Bob Iger was stepping down as CEO of Disney Effective Immediately.

I finished his biography I was gifted for Christmas just a few weeks ago, where if my memory serves me well, he was supposed to stay on as CEO until December 2021. Now he will be Chairman until that date.

He was one the head of ABC, responsible for some iconic shows that at the time were deemed controversial. When ABC was acquired by Disney many years ago, he became an executive and eventually the "controversial" choice as new CEO after Eisner stepped down thanks in part to aligning with the Disney family who at the time were bitter towards Eisner.

He was instrumental in acquiring Intellectual Property like Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, FOX and in launching the Disney China and the Disney App (which isn't very good). His idea of owning intellectual property and maximizing that intellectual property to the extreme degree of monetization, which for Disney involves from digital, film & tv, merchandise, rides at the park, etc. He turned the company from a 48 billion dollar company to a 250 billion dollar company in 13 years. He was also paid heavily. Over 50 million dollars a year.

As you know the mega media company basically owns everything, they may even own our thoughts, we'd never even know.

Bob Chapek is taking over the position. He was previously head of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.

Why the sudden stepping down? I don't know, maybe health reasons? A scandal? The stock has already dropped 2% with the news. Maybe that's part of the master plan.

Paz de La Huerta, who is a very interesting character that claims the media is trying to make her look crazy added Iger to her list of people covered up Weinstein being a rapist.

Who knows, but it probably won't impact your Disney Programming and I only wrote this because I just read his biography and feel connected to him, you know since Disney owns our thoughts and all.
