While the content of his films varies wildly, there's no denying that stylistically, Rob Zombie is one of the best directors working today. For a dude that started out in monster metal, he's got a great eye for composition and his use of pop music is among the best of anyone using pop music in film.
For his latest effort, Zombie has unleashed 3 From Hell, returning once again to the trio of characters that helped launch his film career in 2003's House of 1000 Corpses but whose story more or less came to a close in 2005's The Devil's Rejects. Twisted siblings Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) are once again joined by Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig) for more über-violent shenanigans, though as you can tell from the trailer, plot details are more or less non-existent at this point.
Zombie has been keeping his lips sealed about the plot for this one and it's damn near impossible to glean what it might be from this trailer. As far as we know, the three were killed in a blaze of glory, brilliantly set to "Freebird," at the end of The Devil's Rejects, so it'll be interesting to see exactly what the set-up is for this one.
3 From Hell has no official release date yet, though Zombie has indicated it will be ready in September.
