Open Post: What’s The Worst Thing Someone You Follow On Social Media Has Posted?

Social media is this amazing platform that allows stupid people to express their stupidness openly - creating a global online tapestry of Oscar-worthy odes to dead relatives, minute-by-minute birthing details, #MeToo fan fiction, and searing political insight. Bringing the world together one thirsty attention-grabbing self-congratulatory post at a time.

Recently I was a victim of seeing the stupidest post possibly ever created. In an Insta caption from this gross friend of a friend who I have since unfollowed, the chick basically asks her followers to not let the Santa Fe, TX school shooting overshadow the grief she feels for the one-year anniversary of her cat's death. This is not a drill. Since we relinquish all privacy when posting on social media, here's her post:

[Note to friends: today’s mass murder in Texas made me pause about posting this at all. I am in no way equating my experience or grief to what the Santa Fe community is experiencing right now. But I do hope that we can collectively gather the strength to channel grief into action.] One year ago tonight, my best friend, my stalwart companion, my familiar [cat's name removed] crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Laying here in bed knowing I should just go to sleep, I still feel her absence so viscerally that my whole body aches. I never posted anything on social media at the time, and even now I’m hesitant because it feels too raw to share with anyone outside my tightest circle. Tonight, we went to a benefit for my favorite cat shelter, and toasted her in style. Still, tonight, even as I cuddle with her adorable, incredible little sister, I am grieving her so strongly, so gut-wrenchingly. I used to ask my friends if it would get better, and they always said, “sort of.” Now I know what that means, but it’s not a comfort. This pain will never go away. And I guess it never should. She’ll always be a part of me. I love you, [cat]. We’ll meet again someday. I’ll bring the fish.

Now it's time for you to rat out a dumbass in the comments. If you can one-up a post that mentions a school shooting and a cat, you win.
