Hilary Duff And Her Child Are Going To Die Soon

Hilary Duff is catching some heat over her decision to play Sharon Tate in a new “psychological horror” film entitled The Haunting of Sharon Tate. Most of the hostility aimed her way is coming from the sister of the slain, Debra Tate, but also a few others who feel the plot is insensitive. I’d say her sister is overreacting but it’s hard to argue that she is. She most likely just watched the reenactment of her sister’s murder on American Horror Story: Cult this past season and to see it again so soon in a major motion picture must be pretty upsetting. But Hollywood doesn’t give a flying feather about anyone’s feelings if the project is projected to make millions.

The film, written and directed by Daniel Farrands, takes a look at the last days leading up to Tate’s murder from her point of view. The plot is inspired by an actual quote from Tate, from an interview published a year before her death, wherein she reveals having dreams about ghosts haunting her house and foreseeing her own death at the hands of a satanic cult.

Hilary Duff has a child and isn’t exactly the big name she once was in the early to mid 2000s. She needs something more substantial than the checks she’s getting from her Younger show. Playing Tate is probably tasteless but her kid has to eat. Right now is the perfect opportunity for a horror film to succeed with franchises like Insidious being beaten to death and dragged through the mud. With the promise of Sharon and her unborn being sliced up on screen you may even have more adults in the audience than the normal wave of teens looking for a horror high.
