I still haven't seen Venom, but I know for a fact it's a totally different movie than this new trailer announcing the film's home video release would suggest. They're making this thing look like a romantic comedy, almost as a built in excuse for morons to buy this for their significant other as a Christmas present.
First it's a romantic comedy between Eddie and Venom, then it's one between Eddie and Anne, and then it's one between Venom and She-Venom. It looks like one big romantic clusterfudge, but as far as I can tell—from everything I've heard and everyone I've spoken with—this is a total misdirection in marketing.
Tom Hardy is one of the only guys who can rather consistently step in shit and coming out smelling like roses. He does this on the regular, and if you don't believe me, watch The Drop, Child 44, Legend, Lawless, This Means War, and yeah, I'll say it, The Revenant. He's one of the most immune to career-ending performances actors in the business, second perhaps only to Michael Fassbender, who couldn't fall ass backwards into a good movie in the last three years.
Venom hits Digital HD on December 11, followed by a disc release on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray the following Tuesday, December 18. Check out the full compliment of special features—including more from Woody Harrelson's Kletus Cassidy and more Eminem rapping in strange places—below...
